Execution of TfNSW WAD for Commercial & Residential Development

Project Background

Property developer Cite Group has recently established QUBE, a commercial and residential development on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Cite Group engaged TK Business Group to project manage execution and implementation of the Transport for NSW Works Authorisation Deed required for the project.

Project Scope

Owing to required works and services connections with a Transport for NSW roadway (Condamine St, Manly Vale), the developer was required to execute and implement a Transport for NSW Works Authorisation Deed (WAD). TK Business Group was engaged to project manage this process. TK provided the following services:

  • Detailed review of engineering plans and provision of design advice to project designer
  • Engagement of utility locator for potholing in order to assess the constructability of proposed civil design
  • Optioneering to arrive at an acceptable design for stormwater works
  • Assurance of sub-contractor methodology for services connections
  • Identification of cost-saving initiatives regarding methodology adopted to fulfil restoration requirements of Council’s roadway
  • Obtaining required ROLs and ROPs and producing accompanying TMPs and TGS
  • Preparing scope of works and tendering for civil works in the public domain
  • Extensive liaison with Transport for NSW representatives to achieve execution of the WAD
  • Advice and guidance to civil works contractor regarding WAD implementation requirements

Project Highlights

This project highlights the need for early engagement by property developers of technical experts in Transport for NSW roadway specifications and in execution and implementation of WADs, to enable any design issues or other constraints to be identified and addressed.
